The Gold American Buffalo bullion coin from the United States Mint is one of the most beautiful specimens from the United States. Introduced in 2006, this modern gold bullion coin honors the historic designs from the 1913 US Buffalo Nickel. While the gold bullion coin is expensive, you can own this design on a tribute coin that has only a thin layer of 24-karat gold. Today, 2022 Gold Amerian Buffalo Tribute Coins are available to you online at Silver.com.

Tribute Coin Highlights:

  • Available inside acrylic capsules with a display stand and a Certificate of Authenticity!
  • Tribute coin celebrates the designs of the Gold American Buffalo!
  • Clad with a layer of 24-karat gold!
  • The obverse features a stoic indigenous figure.
  • On the reverse is the American bison.
  • Please keep in mind that these coins are not legal tender specimens and have a thin layer of gold overlaying a metallic alloy blank.

In 1913, James Earle Fraser created the designs that you will now find on the modern Gold American Buffalo bullion coin. In the 1900s and 1910s, the US Mint was overhauling the designs of all circulation coins. The US Nickel was one of the first coins overhauled after the completion of new designs for the Gold US Eagle denominations. His designs were widely popular with the American public and revived in 2006 by the US Mint.

All of these 2022 Gold American Buffalo Tribute Coins are available to you with individual packaging. The coins come with an acrylic capsule and a small display stand to show off the tribute coin upright, in its capsule. Each one also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. These tribute coins are not legal tender and contain only a thin layer of 24-karat gold to help replicate the appearance of the Gold American Buffalo.

The obverse side of the 2022 Gold Buffalo Tribute Coin features James Earle Fraser’s effigy of an indigenous American. This figure is shown in right-profile relief with braided hair and feathers woven in. The field includes the same markings you will find on the Gold Buffalo coin, with inscriptions such as James Earle Fraser’s initial of F and the word Liberty.

On the reverse field of 2022 Gold American Buffalo Tribute Coins is the image of an American bison. The bison is North America’s largest land mammal and the design shown here is based on Black Diamond. This bison was a resident of the Central Park Zoo during the early 20th century and is shown here in left-profile relief with its head lowered as it grazes.
