The Proof Silver Eagles from the United States Mint represent the most popular collectible coin the mint issues each year. Available since 1986, the only date mark missing in the series to date is 2009 when the mint suspended proof coining in the American Eagle Series amidst sky-high demand for BU coins. Now, 2022-W 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagles are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside acrylic capsules with an included presentation box, themed shipper, and Certificate of Authenticity!
  • 36th year of availability in the Proof Silver American Eagle Series!
  • Mintages are limited!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Issued a face value of $1 (USD) by the United States.
  • The obverse depicts Walking Liberty.
  • On the reverse is an American bald eagle.
  • Bears a W mint mark from the West Point Mint.

The United States Mint offers two collectible coins in the Silver Eagle Series each year. The Proof Silver Eagle is the most popular and has been around the longest. The other option is the Burnished Silver Eagle. This coin was introduced in 2006 and has been regularly available since 2011 following a 2009-2010 halt in production.

All Silver Eagles available as of mid-2021 feature the new reverse design from Emily Damstra. This depiction of an American bald eagle was created in 2020 and rolled out midway through the 2021 release schedule as part of the 35th-anniversary of the American Eagle Series. The design replaces John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle effigy that graced the coins from 1986 to June 2021.

The obverse of 2022-W Proof Silver Eagles features the left-profile portrait of Liberty. Known as Walking Liberty, this design was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman for the US half dollar. It features Liberty’s full-length figure walking toward the sun on the horizon. She clutches a torch in one hand while carrying an olive branch in the other.

On the reverse side of 2022-W 1 oz Proof Silver Eagles is an image of the American bald eagle. In this new design from 2021, the bald eagle is captured mid-flight as it swoops downward with a large oak branch in its talons.

These 2022-W 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagles are available to you for purchase online with US Mint packaging. The coins are individually encapsulated and presented inside of a US Mint display box. The coin and box ship inside a themed outer box with a Certificate of Authenticity included. The coins come with frosted designs and mirrored fields.
