The Proof Gold Eagles from the United States Mint have been available to collectors since 1986. One of the most popular collectible coins from the US Mint, the Proof Gold Eagles come with beautiful visuals and individual packaging. Most years, the US Mint issues the coins individually for collectors and inside limited-issue 4-coin sets. Now, 2022-W 4-Coin Proof Gold American Eagle Sets are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

  • Mintage limited to 10,000 coin sets only!
  • Consists of 1.85 Troy ounces of actual gold content.
  • Issued individual face values in US dollars.
  • Obverse depicts Lady Liberty.
  • Reverse features the new American bald eagle design.
  • Each coin has a W mint mark from the West Point Mint.

The United States Mint introduced the Gold Eagle Series in 1986. The first year featured 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold coins available in the BU series. However, that first year only included a 1 oz proof gold coin. The fractional-ounce proofs were issued in 1987 with the 1/2 oz coin’s debut and 1988 with the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins debuting last.

In 2021, the Proof Gold Eagles received an overhaul on the reverse side for the first time in program history. At the midway point of the release schedule, the US Mint retired Miley Busiek’s original reverse design in favor of a new reverse design from Jennie Norris. This image now features on all versions and weights of Gold Eagles in 2022.

Obverse fields of the coins in the 2022-W 4-Coin Proof Gold American Eagle Set include the iconic Liberty design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Designed in 1907, it features the front-facing portrait of Liberty’s full-length figure as she strides toward you holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The U.S. Capitol Building features in the design field, along with a ring of stars and sun rays in the background.

Reverse visuals on 2022-W Proof Gold Eagles in the four-coin set include the new depiction of the American bald eagle. This design shows the head of the bald eagle in left-profile relief with impressive layers of detail in the design.

These 2022-W 4-Coin Proof Gold American Eagle Sets come with individual plastic capsules for each coin and a black US Mint presentation box. The coins all come with frosted designs and mirrored fields, with a Certificate of Authenticity available with the set.
