Introduced in 1987, the Gold British Britannia is the official gold bullion coin of Britain. The series features gold, silver, and platinum options, with the gold bullion coins being the most diverse and the oldest in the series. Now, 2023 1/2 oz Gold British Britannias are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you in individual pouches or protective sheets of 20 coins!
  • 37th issue of Gold British Britannias!
  • Consists of One-Half Troy ounce of .9999 fine gold in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of 50 Pound sterling (GBP) by Britain.
  • The obverse features Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse is Britannia.
  • Design from Philip Nathan.
  • Security elements on the reverse.

Gold Britannia coins were introduced by the Royal Mint in 1987. The coins have long been available in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold. Over time, the mint added other weights in gold and other options within the series, including silver and platinum coins.

In 2021, the Royal Mint added security features to the reverse side of the coins in the gold bullion range. This included four new elements: tincture lines on the Union Jack shield, micro-text around the portrait of Britannia, motion-texture lines in the background, and a latent security device.

The obverse of 2023 1/2 oz Gold Britannias comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II for the last time. This portrait of the Queen was created in 2015 by Jody Clark and captures the monarch at the age of 89 with the George IV State Diadem crown. This is the final time the Queen will appear on the coins with her recent passing in September 2022.

On the reverse side of the 2023 Gold British Britannia is a depiction of the female allegory. Britannia is based in 2,000-year-old folklore and is a symbol of the British people, as well as the given name for the British Isles during the era of Roman rule. Her figure is shown with a trident in one hand and a shield in the other.

These 2023 1/2 oz Gold British Britannias are available individually in protective pouches or by multiples of 20 in sealed sheets. All coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
