The first appearance of Spider-Man, one of the most popular Marvel superheroes of all time, occurred in 1962 with the publication of Amazing Fantasy #15. This comic introduced the classic elements of the character’s backstory: his original identity as mild-mannered teen Peter Parker, his powers gained from the bite of a radioactive spider, his early outing in professional wrestling, the tragic death of his Uncle Ben and his learning of the maxim “with great power comes great responsibility” are all included. This classic issue was the launching pad for one of Marvel’s most famous characters into his own solo titles and is celebrated by the New Zealand Mint with the 2023 1 oz Silver Niue COMIX Amazing Fantasy #15 Coin, now available from Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in a bright, themed display case with a Certificate of Authenticity!
  • Issued in 2023, the New Zealand Mint’s first Marvel-themed coin!
  • Limited mintage of 5,000 coins!
  • A rectangular coin struck in One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Face value of $2 (NZD) issued by the sovereign island of Niue.
  • The reverse side features a replica of the cover of Amazing Fantasy #15.
  • The obverse side features Niue’s coat of arms.

The 2023 Silver Niue COMIX Amazing Fantasy #15 Coin features color artwork and a rectangular design that echoes the look of the comic book — including colors on the sides representing the pages and spine — this beautiful coin ships fully insured by the team at Silver.com.

The comic that debuted one of the brightest stars in the firmament of comic book superheroes is legendary, and still-extant issues are among the most valuable collectible comics in the world. One such issue set a record as the most expensive comic ever sold in 2021 at Heritage Auction’s Signature Comics & Comic Art auction, where it went for $3.6 million. This much-beloved classic title makes an ideal subject for the New Zealand Mint’s first Marvel-themed bullion coin.

The obverse side features the sovereign island of Niue’s Public Seal with a copy of its Coat of Arms, accompanied by inscriptions “TWO DOLLARS,” “2023,” Marvel’s copyright, and the weight and purity of the coin’s silver contents.

A miniature reproduction of the cover of Amazing Fantasy #15 comprises the reverse side. It shows Spider-Man swinging through New York City with a burglar dangling from one hand, and showcases the issue’s original price and messaging.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
