In 2021, the US Mint started restriking Silver Morgan Dollars, as well as Silver Peace Dollars. This re-striking of these coins celebrates the 100th anniversary of the transition of the Morgan design to the Peace design. After taking a break in 2022, the US Mint struck these coins again in 2023, and they’re now back again for 2024. Packaging

These options are available inside their original packaging from the US Mint. This includes a capsule, placed inside of a US Mint box, along with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Certified Silver Morgan and Peace Dollars

Another option is to purchase a certified version of these coins. A certified silver coin is one that has been graded by a professional coin grading provider, such as the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) or the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS).

Typically, 2 grades are available:

• MS70: Perfect specimens. No post-production imperfections, even under 5x magnification. Coins contain their full, original mint luster.
• MS69: Near-perfect specimens. A max of 2 minor detractions ranging from hairlines to minor contact marks.

Furthermore, coins have special designations, such as the following:

• AR (Advanced Release): NGC-term to signify that they were graded before the coins were issued to the public.
• ER (Early Release): NGC-term to signify that they were graded within 30 days of the coin being issued.
• FDOI (First Day of Issue): Coin was submitted for grading within 24 hours of the initial release.
• FS (First Strike): PCGS-term to signify that they graded within 30 days of the coin being issued.
