The American Gold Buffalo is a standout coin from the United States Mint, made from .9999 pure, 24-karat gold. Released for the first time in 2006, it became the Mint’s first coin struck in this level of purity and brought back a design rooted in America’s early coinage. The Gold Buffalo doesn’t follow the usual designs seen in other US Mint issues. Instead of Liberty or eagles, it uses imagery tied to Native American history and the American West. Silver.com now offers 2025 1 oz Gold American Buffalo Coins in flawless certified condition.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes with an individual plastic slab!
  • 20th year of issue for American Gold Buffalo Coins!
  • Limited number of certified perfect specimens available!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .9999 fine gold.
  • The face value of $50 (USD) is fully backed by the U.S. government.
  • Graded Mint State 70 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • First Strike.
  • On the obverse is a portrait of a Native American figure.
  • The reverse displays a powerful American bison.

James Earle Fraser created the original design for the Buffalo Nickel, which later became the face of the Gold Buffalo series. Fraser was also responsible for other major U.S. medals, including the Navy Cross and the WWI Victory medal. His designs reflected the spirit of the American frontier, often shaped by what he saw and experienced in his youth. Fraser’s legacy in coinage is celebrated for capturing real aspects of American culture and identity.

Each 2025 1 oz Gold American Buffalo Coin offered here has been graded MS70 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. This top grade means the coin has no visual flaws and retains its full mint brilliance. The First Strike label means that grading took place within 30 days of the coin’s initial release from the mint.

The obverse side of the 2025 Gold American Buffalo displays a right-facing profile of a Native American man. Fraser designed this by blending features of three real Indigenous leaders he had met in the early 1900s. The result was a portrait that helped bring Native American figures into US coin design.

The reverse of the 2025 1 oz Gold Buffalo Coin shows a left-facing bison standing on a raised patch of land. Fraser modeled this image after Black Diamond, a bison that once lived at the Central Park Zoo. His design conveys the animal’s natural power and peaceful presence, a nod to the strength and endurance of American wildlife.

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
