When it comes to investing in gold precious metals, investors have a choice between cast bars and minted ingots. There’s no difference in the inherent value of the two bars, but the production process of the two results in different appearances and slightly different values. Right now, the 250 Gram Gold Valcambi Cast Bar is available as a new product on Silver.com.
Bar Highlights:
- Arrives in sealed plastic packaging.
- Brand-new product on Silver.com!
- Consists of 250 Grams, or 8.037 Troy ounces, of .9999 fine gold.
- Obverse features all the engravings and identifying marks.
- Blank reverse.
- Privately produced in Switzerland.
Cast gold bars are often preferred by investors over minted ingots, largely because they are more affordable. When a cast bar is produced, gold is poured into a pre-formed cast and cooled in one of two ways. Some refineries will leave the gold to air cool in the cast, while others immediately dump the cast into water to cool and solidify the new product.
These 250 Gram Gold Valcambi Cast bars are new products to Silver.com, and each one ships inside of a sealed plastic package to protect the condition of the bar. These bars have a rough finish as a cast product, with rounded edges and designs that are not as intricate as those typically found on minted ingots.
On the obverse side of the 250 Gram Gold Valcambi Cast Bar are the only engravings you’ll find on this product. Arranged vertically from top to bottom you’ll find the refinery’s name, followed by the mint logo, weight, purity, and metal content of the bar.
At the bottom of each bar is the assayer’s mark from Valcambi Suisse, and an individual serial number. Each 250 Gram Gold Valcambi Cast Bar has a serial number that consists of a two-letter, five-number pattern.
Valcambi Suisse was founded in Balerna, Switzerland in 1961. Originally known as Valori & Cambi, a merger with Credit Suisse in 1968 gave the company its new, well-known brand name. The original names were kept as a combination as Valcambi, with Suisse coming from the Credit Suisse brand.
