In 2016, the Chinese Mint abandoned the use of Troy ounces as the official measurement unit for its Gold Panda and Silver Panda coins. The mint would no longer offer its 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz coins with those weight marks. Instead, the Chinese Mint would use Grams to measure the weight of the coins, but it did maintain the same denominations for each coin.
The change brought nominal adjustments to the actual weight and size of the coins. Each coin maintained the same thickness, but the 3 Gram Gold Panda now featured exactly 3 Grams of gold content and a diameter of 18 mm. Conversely, the previously issued 1/10 oz Gold Panda had a weight of 3.1103 Grams and a diameter of 17.95 mm.
All of the 3 Gram Gold Chinese Panda Coins in this listing come from varied years and include a protective package. The protective packaging is for shipping purposes and the coins are unsealed from their original Chinese Mint packaging. Silver.com cannot guarantee you a specific date mark or design of the Giant Panda. Your order will be picked and processed for shipping after your payment has cleared.
On the obverse of the Gold Chinese Panda Coin is the design of the Temple of Heaven complex. Specifically, the building you can see in this design is the primary structure in the complex and is known as the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests.
The reverse of 3 Gram Gold Chinese Panda Coins features the image of a Giant Panda. The unofficial emblem of the People’s Republic of China, the panda is a bear species with distinctive patches of white and black fur.
