The depiction of Mexican Banditos in American folklore and media have often focused on stereotypical images. These outlaws were often featured with large sombreros, mustaches, and bandoliers wrapped around their figures. While some of the visuals may have been accurate, the focus on banditos as criminals first and foremost isn’t always accurate. Like certain gunslingers, banditos could be forces for good too, working at times as revolutionaries to overthrow corrupt governments.
All of the 5 oz Proof Silver American Western Skulls Mexican Bandito Rounds in this listing comes with protective plastic packaging. Each of the rounds features its own unique serial number on the edge of the silver round. There is a Certificate of Authenticity included with your purchase that reflects the same serial number.
Proof rounds in this series feature the popular proof visuals you’ll find on many silver coins. Each 5 oz silver round with a proof finish has frosted design elements and contrasting, mirrored background fields.
On the reverse of each 5 oz Proof Silver American Western Skulls Mexican Bandito Rounds, you’ll find the design of the fried eagle. This design is a twist on the American heraldic eagle, which includes the nation’s heraldic shield on the chest of an eagle with talons clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. This eagle is, however, dead and has no feathers left on its frame.
The obverse of the 5 oz Silver American Western Skulls Mexican Bandito features the image of a Mexican outlaw. These outlaws would rob stagecoaches, banks, towns, and individuals in search of wealth while crossing back and forth across the US-Mexico border.
