The printer F. Champenois developed the concept of using these artistic panels for business, maximizing each design in many different editions and recycling them for a steady stream of new clients. Mucha, however, transformed these panels into a new art form, making them affordable for and available to the wider public.
Dance was the fourth design in a series from Mucha known as The Arts. Other figures included in this four-part series of images include Painting, Poetry, and Music. As with all “Mucha Women,” Dance exudes beauty in her figure and is considered by many to be one of his most seductive women ever drawn.
On the reverse of all 5 oz Proof Silver Mucha Collection Dance Rounds is the image of Mucha taken from an actual full-size photograph of the Czech artist. For the round series, a close-up shot of his head was chosen, and is surrounded by engravings of his name, birth year, death year, weight, metal content, and purity of the round.
The reverse side of all 5 oz Proof Silver Mucha Collection Dance Rounds includes the stunning figure of Dance. She is depicted looking back over her shoulder at you, her figure tight as she stands on her tiptoes while her auburn hair flows in the breeze.
The 5 oz Proof Silver Mucha Collection Dance Rounds have beautiful mirrored finishes to the background field on both the obverse and reverse. All Mucha Collection Silver Rounds include edge lettering with the serial number for each individual rounds, with an included Certificate of Authenticity bearing that same serial number.
Anonymous Mint developed this silver round series with authorization from The Mucha Foundation. The concept for each release was created by coin designer Julie Lindquist and engravings were completed by Italian master sculptor Luigi Badia.
