Anonymous Mint and Osborne Precious Metals previously released a series of five 1 oz Antique Silver Norse God Rounds featuring different gods on each round’s obverse face. Now, those same images return on the obverse face of 5 oz rounds.
On the obverse of this 5 oz Antique Silver Norse God Series Odin Round you’ll find the image of Odin sitting in his throne, flanked on either side by his wolves Geri and Freki. Odin was the All-Father in Norse mythology and ruled over Asgard, but he was also known as Odin the Wanderer and would mingle with humans in Midgard, often wearing a wide-brimmed hat and carrying a staff.
The reverse of each round in the series includes the image of a single member of the Valkyrie. These warrior maidens were selected by Odin himself to serve as the Chooser of the Slain, riding in the clouds above the battlefields of mankind to determine who lived, and who died.
Each Antique Silver Norse Series Odin Round was developed by Julie Lindquist and Anonymous Mint. Italian sculptor Luigi Badia brought artist Howard David Johnson’s designs to life for the silver rounds, which were struck by Osborne Precious Metals in Cincinnati, Ohio.
