Silver rounds are gaining popularity as more investors look to protect their wealth in precious metals, but want more affordable options than sovereign bullion coin programs. SilverTowne is one of the leading private mints in the United States, producing a number of in-demand silver rounds for investors. Right now, Silver.com offers the 5 oz SilverTowne Prospector Stackable Silver Round.
More and more often investors are turning to rounds as a way to invest in silver as they are a great alternative to silver bars due to their low premiums over silver spot price, and unique designs such as this one.
- Consists of five ounces of .999 fine silver.
- Manufactured with unique, stackable finish.
- Alternating frosted and mirror finishes on the outer rim.
- Features the SilverTowne Prospector design, the official corporate image of the mint.
- Rounds ship in individual plastic flips.
The Prospector design is the not only the most popular design from the SilverTowne Mint, it also serves as the corporate logo for the company. The first stackable silver round from SilverTowne was released in August 2014, featuring the Prospector design on a 1 troy ounce .999 silver round.
In July 2015, the mint released these all-new 5 oz SilverTowne Prospector Stackable Silver Rounds. The products stack easily thanks to the inset striking of the obverse design, which causes a slightly raised lip on the reverse side. This manufacturing allows the rounds to easily stack and interlock with one another, as does the alternating inset-raised lip design of the outer rim.
On the obverse side of these silver rounds you’ll find the weary old prospector walking alone, pick ax slung over his shoulder, as he leads his faithful donkey along. The SilverTowne mint name is engraved above, with the weight, purity, and metal content below. The reverse face features the same design field, with no engraving of the weight, purity, or metal content.
Each side of the coin has alternating frosted and mirrored finishes. On both sides, the background field bears a frosted finish, while the prospector design and mint name have a mirrored finish. Additionally, the interlocking bars along the outer rim alternating between raised, frosted areas and inset, mirrored areas.
SilverTowne Mint was originally founded in 1949 by Leon Hendrickson in Winchester, Indiana. Today, the mint is one of the largest and most respected dealers in the United States.
