From 1795 to 1964, all American coins in circulation were issued with actual gold and silver content. The lone exceptions to this over the course of time were the penny and nickel, but the US Eagle denominations, the US silver dollar, US gold dollar, and the dime, quarter, and half dollar were all issued with gold or silver content. The Washington Quarter is still in production today as a cupronickel coin, but from 1932 to 1964, these coins actually featured 90% silver content. Now, 90% Silver GEM Proof Washington Quarters are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside plastic bags!
  • Available dates include 1932 to 1964!
  • Comes with 90% silver content!
  • Consists of .715 Troy ounce of actual silver content.
  • Issued a face value of $.25 (USD) by the United States.
  • The obverse features a bust of President George Washington.
  • On the reverse is an American bald eagle.

From 1916 to 1930, the United States Mint issued the US Quarter with a design known as the Standing Liberty Quarter. This design was met with controversy at first for its depiction of Liberty with a bare chest. Though the design was eventually modified, the production difficulties the US Mint faced with this design and the upcoming Bicentennial of Washington’s birth presented an opportunity to change the design.

The last Standing Liberty Quarters were struck by the US Mint in 1930. There were no quarters issued in 1931. John Flanagan created a bust of President George Washington that was eventually chosen in 1932 to serve as the new design for the US Quarter. While the design remains in use to this day, only Washington Quarters struck from 1932 to 1964 are 90% silver coins. Starting in 1965, the series shifted to a cupronickel alloy amidst rising precious metals prices.

The obverse of the 90% Silver GEM Proof Washington Quarter comes with Flanagan’s left-profile bust of Washington. This design is based on a sculpt of President Washington that was created in 1785 and unveiled in 1786.

On the reverse side of 90% Silver Washington Quarters, you will find a front-facing American bald eagle. In this design, the eagle has its wings spread to the sides while it sits perched on a sheaf of arrows. There are two olive branches beneath that form a wreath under the eagle.

These 90% Silver GEM Proof Washington Quarters are available to purchase with plastic bags for delivery. As GEM Proof specimens, the coins showcase a high-quality, mirrored surface, as well as minor flaws such as noticeable hairlines.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
