Please be aware that these particular Peace Dollars are offered as an “any year” product and as such the item you receive will be from either 1921-1928 OR 1934-1935. The coins are picked by our staff based on our current inventory selection and each has been certified by the NGC to be in MS64 condition.
The Peace Silver Dollar was produced by the United States Mint between 1921 and 1928 with two more years of production in 1934 and 1935. Each Peace Dollar was minted from .77344 troy oz. of .9 fine silver. Because of the cessation of silver coinage in 1964, the Peace Dollar would be the last dollar coin to ever be made with genuine silver. It has since become a highly sought after piece by both investors and collectors.
Each of these Peace Silver Dollars was assigned an MS64 (Mint State 64) grade after undergoing thorough inspection by the NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation). Coins with an MS64 are in above average condition with several light hairline and contact marks visible throughout their surfaces. To protect their mint state from any damage, every single coin has been sealed in its own certified NGC slab.
The artwork for the Peace Silver Dollar came from the winning contest entry of Anthony Francisci, who depicted Lady Liberty on the front of his design. Unlike other renditions of her, Francisci chose to base his illustration on the actual Statue of Liberty. She is seen wearing the statue’s trademark “radiate” crown with a gentle breeze blowing through her hair. Featured in the background behind Lady Liberty is the inscription, “In God We Trust.” Her name and the coin’s mintage year serve as a circular border near the coin’s edges.
His artwork for the reverse side of the coin displays the image of a bald eagle as it stands in poised vigilance on top of a rock with an olive branch clasped in its talons. Beaming rays of sunlight, which mimic the points of Liberty’s crown, serve as the backdrop for this majestic creature along with coin’s denomination. Francisci finishes his design by printing our nation’s name and the words “E Pluribus Unum” above the eagle’s head.
