The narrative of Pre-33 Gold Double Eagles unfolds in 1850, echoing the legacy of the California Gold Rush. These coins bear an obverse design crafted by James B. Longacre, portraying Liberty, while the reverse proudly presents the revered Great Seal of the United States. Struck between 1850 and 1907, these coins embody an era of significance.

The design of the coin evolved over time, with substantial revisions on the reverse side. Initially absent of the national motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” and bearing distinct lettering for the denomination, the Type 2 release in 1866 addressed these facets.

The obverse of Pre-33 Gold Liberty Double Eagles showcases the profile of Lady Liberty, a timeless symbol of freedom. Conceived by James B. Longacre in 1849, this rendition portrays Liberty adorned with a coronet crown surrounded by a constellation of 13 stars.

Flipping the coin reveals the reverse of the Pre-33 $20 Gold Double Eagle, proudly presenting the Magnificent Seal of the United States. An impressive portrayal of the heraldic eagle takes center stage, depicting the bald eagle from the front. Grasping the national shield on its chest, the eagle clutches symbols of war and peace – an olive branch and war arrows. Type 2 coins also feature the national motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.”

Silver.com offers these Pre-33 Gold $20 Liberty Double Eagle Coins in Extremely Fine condition, corresponding to a grade of approximately 40-45 on the Sheldon scale. In this state, the coins display minimal wear on their highest points, preserving glimpses of their original mint luster.

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
