Each Proof Silver American Eagle Four-Coin Set available here comes with near-perfect certifications from the PCGS. Coins in PR69 condition exhibit full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Examples of acceptable flaws at this grade include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines found outside of the primary focal points of the coin. DCAM stands for deep-cameo and refers to specimens that have strong, frosted design elements with deeply-mirrored, clear background fields. This set comes with coins dated from 1987 to 1990, each one bearing an “S” mint mark from the San Francisco Mint.

The 1986 release of the Proof Silver Eagle remains the highest-minted in the history of the series. Following that debut, the 1980s saw significant drops in demand for the collection. The 1987 saw a drop of 500,000 coins in just one year after the debut. By 1988, the series had dropped by two-thirds in just two years. Although the 1989 and 1990 releases saw growing demand, both date marks remained at a figure less than half the 1986 release.

The obverse side of Proof Silver American Eagles comes with the Walking Liberty design. Featured on the US half dollar from 1916 to 1947, this design from Adolph A. Weinman has been the face of the Silver Eagle Series since its 1986 debut.

On the reverse field of the Proof Silver Eagle is the image of the heraldic eagle of the United States of America. The design on this face features a front-facing bald eagle supporting the US national shield with the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. There is also a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head.
