The United States Mint has a rich coining tradition that dates back to 1792 when it was founded to serve as the sovereign mint of the United States of America. As early as the 1850s, the United States Mint began striking commemorative coins to mark special occasions, events, and historical moments. By the 1960s, the US Mint was issuing proof sets that often featured the designs from its circulating denominations struck in proof for collectors. Silver US Mint Proof America the Beautiful Quarter Sets

While other sets from the US Mint date to as early as the 1960s, the Silver US Mint Proof America the Beautiful Quarter Sets are a more recent introduction. Following the 2010 introduction of the Silver America the Beautiful bullion coin series featuring 5 oz silver coins, the US Mint began issuing those same designs on circulating US quarters. 

In late 2010, the San Francisco Mint began issuing the circulation quarter with 90% silver content in a five-coin collector set. These 90% silver proof quarters were only available in the Silver US Mint Proof ATB Quarter Set. These sets contain five coins per year, each one bearing the ATB designs released in the investment-grade series.

Silver US Mint Proof ATB Quarter Sets come with all five coins packaged together inside of a clear holder with a commemorative shipping sleeve and a Certificate of Authenticity. A few important notes regarding this series:

• 2010-2018 Sets: These sets feature 90% silver quarters with 10% copper
• 2019-2020 Sets: These two releases feature 99.9% silver content
• 2021 Set: No 2021 set was issued as there was just one final design. A 99.9% Proof Silver ATB Quarter was instead issued in the Silver US Mint Proof Set in 2021.

Silver US Mint Proof Sets

One of the nation’s longest-running proof sets from the US Mint is the Silver US Mint Proof Set. This collection celebrates the designs of circulation coins in the United States with 90% or 99.9% silver versions of select coins, and beautiful proof strikes of each. The typical Silver US Mint Proof Set issued in the 21st century includes the following coins:

• Lincoln Penny
• Jefferson Nickel
• Roosevelt Dime
• Washington Quarter
• Kennedy Half Dollar
• Sacagawea Dollar

From 2010-2020, the Silver US Mint Proof Set included a stunning 11 coins in total. The six coins mentioned above were packaged together in one clear holder, with five Silver Proof ATB Quarters in a separate clear holder. Both holders arrived together in a commemorative sleeve with a Certificate of Authenticity.

In these sets, the only silver coins are the Dime, Quarter, and Half Dollar, as well as the five ATB Quarters. From 2010-2018, the sets had 90% silver in these coins, while sets released from 2019 onward have 99.9% silver content.

US Mint Proof Sets

The US Mint Proof Set issued each year is the same as the aforementioned Silver US Mint Proof Set. You will find all of the same coins issued in these sets and packaged in the same way. The only difference is these coins lack any silver content. The coins are struck in proof with the standard metallic alloys that the US Mint uses in these coins as released for circulation purposes.
