The Hobo Nickel Series was a wildly popular lineup of silver rounds introduced in 2016. Each one featured a design based upon the original Buffalo Nickel from the US Mint, but with a unique twist inspired by the hobo art that was once commonly etched onto American coinage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A new series of designs is set for 2017. Right now, the 1 oz Antique Silver Graveyard Shift Round is available to purchase online at Silver.com.

Each of the 1 oz Antique Silver Graveyard Shift Rounds in this product listing comes from a collaboration of Osborne Mint and Heads or Tales Coin Company. Your silver round arrives inside of a protective flip and features a proprietary antique polish application. Products with an antique finish vary from mint to mint, but by in large, products with this finish have added warmth in appearance and depth to the overall detail of the round.
When someone refers to a graveyard shift, they are often referring to an overnight shift at work. Although there are no set hours, a graveyard shift covers any working time frame that runs from the late hours of the evening to the early morning hours. In most cases, it is considered midnight to 8 AM.
On the obverse of the 1 oz Antique Silver Graveyard Shift Round is the haunting image of Death as he strolls through the graveyard. His scythe is held tightly in his boney right hand, while his left hand extends a scroll featuring the names of the dead he seeks in the cemetery.
The reverse of each of these rounds includes a unique take on a fisherman out looking for a meal. Rather than casting a line in hopes of catching a meal, you’ll see a fish on shore casting out his line with a fisherman on the hook as a bait.
All 2017 releases in the Hobo Nickel Series come from the Osborne Mint, with the design from the Heads or Tales Coin Company. This year’s collection of Hobo Nickel Silver Rounds will feature only antique finish products with higher mintages to satisfy demand!
