The 2015 Gold Austrian Philharmonic Coin features a musically inspired motif which features a collection of musical instruments that include a french horn, an oboe, a harp, a cello and four violins. These instruments honor the many musicians, whose talent and hard work have distinguished the Vienna Philharmonic as one of the world’s finest orchestras. Engraved in an arched heading above the instruments is the orchestra’s name in Austrian: “Wiener Philharmoniker.”
The coin’s reverse side depicts the famous concert hall located in Vienna, which serves as the orchestra’s primary performance venue. The inscription “Republick Osterreich” is stamped onto the coin’s reverse as well and appears above the concert hall. The coin’s weight, purity, production year and denomination appear below the concert hall.
