Right now, 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagles from varied years of issue are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

  • Struck in every year since 1986 except for 2009!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Bears a face value of $1 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • Obverse depicts Walking Liberty from the Walking Liberty Half Dollar.
  • Reverse includes the heraldic eagle of the United States.

Each of the 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagles in this product listing ships to you inside of a protective plastic capsule rather than its original US Mint commemorative box. The coins come from varied years of issue, stretching from 1986 to 2008 and continuing from 2010 to the present. Silver.com does not guarantee the year of issue you’ll receive, as this is determined when your order is fulfilled for shipping.

Proof Silver American Eagle coins have been issued every year alongside the bullion version, with the exception of 2009. Amidst the Great Recession that year, safe haven metal price skyrocketed and demand for gold and silver was up immensely. To meet its legal obligation to strike the Silver American Eagle bullion coin to meet demand, the US Mint used all of its silver blanks to coin the bullion version.

On the obverse of all 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagle Coins is the design that graced the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916, the Walking Liberty imagery is meant to represent the nation’s drive toward a brighter future. The specific elements of the design supporting this are Liberty’s figure walking toward the setting sun, wearing the American flag over her shoulders while carrying oak and laurel wreaths in her left hand.

The reverse of the Silver Eagle series features one of the nation’s most iconic designs. Originally introduced in 1794 on the first American coinage, the heraldic eagle has been modified over time to reflect modern coining. This design from John Mercanti, former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, was updated in 1986. It features the bald eagle behind the national heraldic shield as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
