The state of Colorado has long been a frontrunner when it comes to both prohibiting the use of cannabis and allowing it for use in both medical and recreational settings. Colorado was one of the first states to feature in the Legalized Collection, a series of silver and copper rounds celebrating the movement to legalize marijuana. Today, 1 oz Copper Legalized Collection Colorado Rounds are available to you online at Silver.com.

Back in 1917, as waves of prohibition began to sweep the United States, the state of Colorado became the first in the nation to restrict the use of cannabis. After the passage of the 1937 Marihuana Tax Act, Moses Baca and Samuel Caldwell became the first Americans convicted under the laws of the act after the Denver Police Department arrested the pair for possession and dealing.
All of the 1 oz Copper Legalized Collection Colorado Rounds in this listing are available individually or in bulk. Individual copper rounds will ship in protective plastic flips. You can also purchase multiples in plastic tubes of 20 rounds or boxes of 500 rounds. The boxes hold 25 tubes of 20 copper rounds each. All rounds are brand new from the mint.
The obverse of 1 oz Legalized Collection Colorado Rounds features the state seal for Colorado. The shield at the center includes the Rocky Mountains in the upper half, with a cannabis leaf added below as a nod to the state’s legalization of recreational cannabis. Colorado voters approved Amendment 64 in 2012 to legalize cannabis in the state, with both of those facts noted in the engravings on this face.
On the reverse of the 1 oz Copper Legalized Collection Round is a common design element used across the series. The design depicts a cannabis leaf at the center with small leaf hands that are handcuffed. This element, combined with the chain around the design element, points to the federal government’s continued stance that recreational cannabis use remains illegal.
