Gambling was a fixture of the Wild West for a number of reasons. Many of the towns that sprung up across the west as waypoints along travel routes or around mines or other industry didn’t offer much in the way of entertainment. Bars and saloons were the primary place to gather, and wherever there was a table there was a chance to gamble. Most had already risked life and limb just moving west, what’s the difference if you lose a few bucks on cards?
All 1 oz Colorized Proof Silver American Western Skulls Gambler Rounds are available to you today with a protective plastic capsule. The rounds in this series feature unique serial numbers etched onto the edges and come with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity which matches the number from the round.
On the obverse of 1 oz Colorized Proof Silver American Western Skulls Gambler Rounds, you’ll find the image of a Gambler. This colorized design includes layers of lacquer applied on the Gambler skull, with his top hat a dark shade of black and three red flowers upon it. The cards in his hand of poker include the ace of spades, ace of clubs, eight of spades, and eight of clubs; otherwise known as the Dead man’s hand. The cigarette in his mouth burns red hot at the end as he takes a drag, no doubt pondering the consequences of the hand he’s been dealt.
The reverse side of all Colorized Proof Silver American Western Skulls Gambler Rounds features the fried eagle. This design has been used on all the rounds in this collection and is a deadly take on the heraldic eagle of the United States. The primary change here is the use of an eagle with no feathers.
