Proof Gold Libertads were first issued by the Mexican Mint in 1 oz gold in 1983. This was followed by one-time issues of a 1/2 oz gold coin in 1989 and a 1/4 oz gold coin in 2004. In 2005, the series was introduced in what would be the first of continuing, annual releases with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz gold coins. Since then, 2012 is the only year that lacked a release.
All of these 1 oz Reverse Proof Gold Mexican Libertads are available with perfect certifications. The NGC issues a PF70 grade to coins that have full, original mint luster and lack all possible detracting flaws. These coins also have UCAM labels that stand for ultra-cameo. A coin with this label has strong, frosted elements and deeply-mirrored, clear elements. In the case of a reverse proof coin, the frosted element is in the background field, with the clear element on the design strike.
Silver.com offers these coins to you at random. The date mark and additional labels present on these coins are determined by random chance as all coins are picked after your payment has processed. We select your coins from available stock in that moment and can only guarantee the perfect grade and UCAM labels. Possible dates include only 2018 to the present.
On the obverse of 1 oz Reverse Proof Gold Mexican Libertads is the modern coat of arms for Mexico. The modern version of the seal, with its powerful golden eagle and serpent on a cactus branch, is found at the center of the design field. Around this design element, you will notice 10 historic versions of the national coat of arms.
The reverse side of the 1 oz Reverse Proof Gold Libertad features the statue of Winged Victory. Built in 1910, the statue of Winged Victory was constructed to mark the centennial of Mexico’s independence war starting in 1810.
