When the Christmas season rolls around and you gather with friends and family, a common greeting when people get together is “Season’s Greetings.” The use of this term provides a neutral greeting for the holidays out of respect for those who may not celebrate the Christian aspects of the season, but nevertheless enjoy the joy of the season. The term “Season’s Greetings” has its roots in the Victorian Era. Christmas cards of the day commonly used a variety of salutations beyond just “Merry Christmas.” Examples of some of those salutations included “Compliments of the Season” and “Christmas Greetings.” It wasn’t until the late 19th century that “With Season’s Greetings” and “The Season’s Greetings” that the salutation was shortened closer to its modern phrasing.
All 1 oz Colorized Silver Season’s Greetings Reindeer Rounds ship to you inside of protective plastic capsules, housed within soft, velvet pouches. The capsules are unique in that they feature a loop at the top, allowing you or the recipient of this silver round as a gift to string ribbon through it and hang the round from the tree at Christmas time for decoration.
On the obverse of the 1 oz Colorized Silver Season’s Greetings Reindeer Round is the salutation “Season’s Greetings.” The background field of the coin is colorized in a rich, blue hue with small hints of white snowflakes. The greeting is in white, as are the two reindeer set on either side of the greeting and the two bells above.
Did you know that US President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s 1955 White House Christmas card helped popularize the phrase in the US? Though it had been around since the Victorian Era in England, it wasn’t until the 1920s that it wasn’t shortened all the way to just “Season’s Greetings,” with President Eisenhower’s 1955 card among the first to feature the modern version of the term.
The reverse of all Colorized Silver Season’s Greetings Reindeer Rounds includes only a few engravings. Across the center of the design field is the weight as “One Ounce,” while the weight and purity are featured along the bottom of the design field’s outer edge as “.999 Fine Silver.”
