When you’re buying silver bars online you’ll notice there are a variety of types. Beyond simple design and weights, of which 1 oz and 10 oz silver bars are the most popular, you’ll find bars that are minted ingots, cast, or hand-poured. These 10 oz Silver Engelhard Poured Bars are a perfect example of the latter.
While cast bars and minted ingots both involves production that includes the use of machinery at certain points in the process, the name hand-poured makes it pretty clear that there’s more human influence in the pouring and cooling of the bars. 10 oz Silver Engelhard Poured Bars are produced by first melting silver, then pouring it by hand into prefabricated molds to ensure 10 Troy ounces of .999 fine silver are in the end product.
From there, each bar is either left to cool in its mold or dropped by a refinery worker from its mold into a vat of water to speed up the cooling process. The end result with many hand-poured bars is a rough, rustic product that has broad appeal to investors and collectors.
All 10 oz Silver Engelhard Poured Bars in this listing are shipped in protective plastic. As secondary market bars, these are not in brand-new condition. Secondary market silver bars feature minor issues such as contact marks, light scratches, scuffs, or other minor blemishes.
On the obverse of the silver bars in this listing are engravings arranged horizontally. The most prominent is the rounded-edge rectangle that contains the name “Engelhard” in the center. “999+ Fine Silver 10 Tr Oz” is engraved above the name, while there may be a serial number on your bar below the name.
The reverse of the 10 oz Silver Engelhard Poured Bars includes a simple waffle texture appearance. This isn’t a purposeful design, but rather a result of the cooling process of the bar after production.
