The Proof Silver American Eagle is the collectible version of the Silver Eagle bullion coin from the United States Mint. The coins have frosted design elements overlaying mirrored background fields to create stunning contrast between the two elements of the coin’s visual fields. Available since 1986, the US Mint has missed only one date mark in the collection. Today, 1986-2021 Proof Silver American Eagle 35-Coin Sets are available to you online at Silver.com.

Proof Silver Eagles have been available from the United States Mint in each year since the program’s debut in 1986. The only exception was 2009 when the US Mint had to suspend proof production to focus available silver blanks on the BU version of the Silver Eagle. Since 1986, three mints have produced the Proof Silver Eagle. From 1986 to 1992, the San Francisco Mint struck the coins with “S” mint marks. From 1993 to 2000, the Philadelphia Mint issued the coins with “P” mint marks. As of 2001, the West Point Mint has issued the coins with “W” mint marks.

All of the 1986-2021 Proof Silver American Eagle 35-Coin Sets available in this Silver.com listing have a Certificate of Authenticity available with purchase. The set ships with 35 individual coins housed together inside of a protective display box. As mentioned above, there are 35 coins representing each available date mark in the Proof Silver Eagle range from 1986 to 2021, with no 2009 coins.

Walking Liberty features on the obverse side of Proof Silver American Eagles. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, the image of Liberty captures her full figure as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. Liberty reaches for the light of a new day as the sun crests a mountaintop. Her left hand carries branches of oak and laurel, while the American flag is draped over her shoulders.

The heraldic eagle of the United States is found on the reverse of Proof Silver American Eagle Coins in the 35-Coin Set. This is the last time the heraldic eagle will feature on Proof Silver Eagles, with 2021 being the final date mark to include this original, iconic design of the bald eagle with the US national shield on its chest.
