Modern investors and collectors have an affinity for precious metals that was matched in history by pirates. Scouring the oceans of the world, pirates would often target ships not for their material goods, but for the loot of silver and gold that fed empires around the world.
Pirates first emerged in the form of French corsairs patrolling the waters of the Mediterranean Sea during the Middle Ages. Strapped by tough economic conditions of the era, these men would loot any ship, or opposing ships of the French crown during wartime, for loot and survival. The concept of piracy spread around the world in the following centuries.
MK Barz is a new refinery in the United States that focuses on producing unique products rather than highly refined bars or rounds with identical finishes. All of their products are hand-poured into molds and hand-stamped with engravings to give each one a unique look. In fact, no two 2 oz MK Barz Silver Hand Poured Pirate Squares are exactly the same.
On the obverse face of these silver squares you’ll find the only engravings the product has to offer. The central theme of the product is piracy, and that is accurately reflected in the selection of a skull-and-swords design for the obverse face. You’ll notice a skull wearing an eye patch over one of its empty eye sockets, with its mouth agape.
Behind the image of the skull you’ll notice swords crossing, which completes the common image used on the Jolly Roger. The Jolly Roger was a famous pirate flag used by many roaming bands of mischievous seaborne thugs throughout the 17th and 18th centuries. Engravings on this side include “MK Barz,” with the initials engraved horizontally and the word “Barz” vertically on the right. Below the design, the purity and weight of the product.
