Elemetal created a stunning series with the Privateer Collection. Each of the silver blanks used in this series started as a 6.4mm thick blank ready for ultra-high-relief striking. To create the beauty of the ultra-high-relief visuals, Elemetal struck each blank under intense pressure to create designs on both sides that truly jumped off the surface.

The 2 oz Silver Elemetal Davy Jones Locker Ultra High Relief Round is the final issue in this series and is available to you as an individual purchase or in bulk orders. The rounds bring to a close the Privateer Series that took collectors through the life and times of pirates, from the bravery of the Captain to the threat of the Sirens and the Kraken.

No one quite knows the exact origins of Davy Jones and his locker. In most cases it is viewed as a euphemism for the untimely and unfortunate death of sailors at sea, sent to the deep to rest forever inside of Davy Jones’ locker. Davy Jones and the fate of those who wound up in his locker was first mentioned by author Daniel Defoe in 1726 in a London publication, with other accounts from Tobias Smollett in 1751 and Francis Gros in 1811.

On the reverse of the 2 oz Silver Elemetal Davy Jones Locker Ultra High Relief Round from the Privateer Series is the cold, hard truth of death that many sailors and pirates faced. In this scene, a ship lies wrecked at the bottom of the ocean. Sharks circle above while a school of fish swim through the open mouth in the skull of a sailor. Nearby on the ocean’s floor, an open treasure chest many men chased but found the hard way.

The obverse of all Davy Jones Locker Ultra High Relief Rounds include the skull wheel. This ship’s wheel has a human skull in the center, with the pirate motto emblazoned above. Living for riches on the high seas, pirates lived by the motto of “No Prey, No Pay.”
