When it comes to buying Gold Eagles from the United States Mint, the most popular coins are often the 1/10 oz gold coin and the 1 oz gold coin. These are the only two coins to have topped the mintage list in a given year, but the next-best option behind those two coins is often the 1/4 oz gold coin. Now, 2004 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside protective plastic flips!
  • 19th release of Gold Eagle Coins!
  • Mintage limited to 72,014 coins only!
  • Consists of One-Quarter Troy ounce of actual gold content.
  • Issued a face value of $10 (USD) by the United States.
  • The obverse depicts Liberty in front-facing relief.
  • On the reverse is a family of bald eagles.

The United States Mint introduced the Gold American Eagles in 1986. The series started with BU and Proof coins that year, with weights of 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold in the BU Series and just 1 oz gold in the Proof Series. Over the course of time, fractional-ounce coins would be issued in the Proof Series and the 2006-issued Burnished Series.

As of 2011, the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle is available only in the BU and Proof collections, with Burnished Eagles in this weight suspended in 2009 and 2010, and not reinstated in 2011. The BU Gold Eagle still offers the 1/4 oz gold coin and it remains the lowest-minted in the series behind the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/10 oz gold coins.

The obverse of 2004 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ iconic image of Lady Liberty. A front-facing relief that captures her full-length figure, the image shows Liberty walking toward you with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. The U.S. Capitol Building is visible at her feet with sun rays in the background field and a ring of 50 stars around the design element.

On the reverse of 2004 Gold American Eagles, you will find the exclusive Gold Eagle design from Miley Busiek. The design shows a male eagle soaring over the family nest as a female guards a group of hatchlings within the nest.

These 2004 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles come with individual protective flips. The mintage in 2004 marked a drop in demand for the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle as it spent much of the 2000s rising and falling randomly from one year to the next.

We also never have access to your credit/debit card details, as they are securely communicated directly to the payment processor (Authorize.net) and never retained by Silver.com. For this reason, we also don't process credit/debit card orders over the phone, as it is the least secure way to process those transactions.

Upon completing checkout with a VISA or MasterCard credit/debit card, you may be promoted for additional details to confirm your identity and protect our customers against credit card fraud.

We are required to collect sales tax in certain states. You can review your states sales tax policy here: https://www.silver.com/taxes. You should always consult with a tax adviser for specific advice in your area.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
