The Gold American Eagles from the United States Mint are offered on an annual basis in one of four weights. One of the most popular weights in the series is the 1/10 oz gold coin. One of the lowest mintage years for the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle came in 2009, a year that also featured one of the biggest gaps in mintage between the 1 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins. Today, 2009 1/10 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you online at Silver.com.

Gold American Eagles are available with BU, Proof, and Burnished versions each year. The BU gold coins are the most popular series of coins, by mintage, in the collection, but you will find that collectors seek out the Proof and Burnished coins at strong levels as well. The 2009 release saw one of the biggest gaps in demand between the 1/10 oz and 1 oz gold coins, with a gap of more than 1.2 million coins between the 270,000 1/10 oz coins and the nearly 1.5 million 1 oz coins.
All of these 2009 1/10 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase with individual plastic flips. These coins came with a total mintage of only 270,000 gold coins.
On the obverse side of 2009 Gold American Eagles, you will find the historic image of Lady Liberty from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The image shows Liberty’s full-length figure in front-facing relief as she walks toward you with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The U.S. Capitol Building is found at her feet with sun rays on the horizon and a ring of 50 stars around the design element.
The reverse field of the 2009 1/10 oz Gold Eagle comes with a depiction of a bald eagle family. This design was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek for exclusive use on the Gold Eagle coins. In this image, a male eagle soars over the nest as a female eagle guards over a hatchling within the nest.
