The series began in 2015 with the release of a two-coin series honoring Star Trek: The Original Series. Each subsequent release in the series has featured characters and craft from the spinoff TV series in sequential order.
This 2015 1 oz Star Trek Silver Proof USS Enterprise NX-01 coin honors the starship featured in the fifth and final television series. Launched in 2001 and running through 2005, Enterprise was served as a prequel to The Original Series, and tried to offer fans conclusions to the loose ends of stories that had been threaded throughout all four previous series on TV.
On the reverse face of the coin is the image of the USS Enterprise NX-01 flying through space. The starship itself remains in brilliant .999 fine silver, while the background universe has brilliant colors added for stunning visual enhancement.
The obverse of the coin bears the right-profile image of England’s Queen Elizabeth II. Created by Ian Rank-Broadley, this image of the Queen has featured on the obverse of Perth Mint coins since 1998.
Perth Mint is a state-owned entity of Western Australia, and is not affiliated the federal government’s Royal Australian Mint. All of its products are considered legal tender though under the Currency Act of 1965.
