The Gold American Centennial Coin series was introduced in early 2016 with the Mercury Dime Gold coin, and continues with this Standing Liberty Quarter Gold coin. The program is a planned three-coin series commemorating the three iconic coin designs released by the United States Mint 1916.
Each of the coins in the Gold American Centennial Coin series features 24-karat gold, and the individual coins have weights indicative of their original inspiration. For example, the Standing Liberty Quarter bears a face value of $.25 (USD) and has a weight of one-quarter troy ounce.
The 2016 1/4 oz Gold American Standing Liberty Quarter Coin in this listing has a perfect SP70 grade from the NGC. Coins in this condition exhibit full, original mint luster, bear no detracting flaws of any kind, and have a mirrored finish. On the obverse face is the image of Standing Liberty, created in 1916 by Hermon Atkins MacNeil. The reverse side of the 2016 1/4 oz Gold American Standing Liberty Quarter Coin features the image of an American bald eagle in flight with its wings spread wide. Additional engravings added to this face of the coin identify the metal content, purity, and weight of the coin.
