In the latest silver coin release from the Perth Mint, a new endemic species to Australia is featured on a bullion coin collection. The Emu is a flightless bird that inhabits most of mainland Australia, and it joins the ranks of the Kookaburra, Koala, Kangaroo, Wedge Tail Eagle, and Swan among brilliant silver coins from Perth. Today, 2018 1 oz Silver Australian Emu Coins are available to you online at Silver.com with a perfect certification.

The 2018 Silver Australian Emu coin joins a proud lineup of wildlife-themed designs from Perth Mint, each one representing a different species endemic to the Australian continent. This motif at the mint began in 1990 with the Silver Kookaburra coins, but a significant change came in 2016 when the mint introduced the Silver Australian Kangaroo.

Prior to the Silver Kangaroo, all silver bullion annual-release coins featured .999 fine silver content. The Silver Kangaroo was the first-ever .9999 fine silver annual bullion coin, and in the years since the Silver Kookaburra and Silver Koala have been upgraded to .9999 fine silver as well. The 2018 Silver Australian Emu follows that trail as well, using .9999 fine silver content.

All 2018 1 oz Silver Australian Emu Coins listed here have a perfect certification from the NGC. Coins with a Mint State 70 grade feature full, original mint luster and lack all detracting flaws. The included Early Release label means the coins were received by the NGC within the first 30 days of their 2018 release date from the Perth Mint.

On the reverse of the 2018 Silver Australian Emu Coin is a depiction of the flightless bird, the second-largest in the world behind its cousin the ostrich. The bird is shown walking from left to right through a flora-filled background with “Australian Emu” engraved above, “2018 1 oz 9999 Silver” below, and the “P” mint mark in the background field.

The obverse of the coin includes the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II developed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley for the Royal Mint in England. This effigy of Her Majesty is featured along with engravings of “Elizabeth II,” “Australia,” and “1 Dollar.”
