He remained popular through the early post-war period, but had lost popularity by the start of the Korean War.
Marvel Comics later revived Captain America amid the growing tensions of the Cold War. He had changed from a force fighting on the battlefields of Europe in World War II to a symbol of Americanism and righteousness in the Cold War battle between communism and capitalism.
