The Perth Mint made waves in 1996 with its beautiful Lunar Series I coins. The 12-year cycle of the Zodiac includes a depiction of 12 different animals representing the various years of the Chinese Lunar calendar and the characteristics associated with those animals. The mint has carried on with its lunar-themed designs through 2019’s conclusion of the Lunar Series II program, and now launches its third variation. The 2020 1/2 oz Gold Australian Lunar Mouse Coin is now available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

The Lunar Series III collection debuts from the Perth Mint in 2020 with the Year of the Mouse. This series follows the same track as the two previous programs with lunar-themed designs and follows the exact cycle of the Zodiac. The Year of the Mouse always leads off the start of the Zodiac.

In the Lunar Series III program, the Perth Mint offers unique designs for each of its silver and gold bullion coins. Ing Ing Jong once again designs the artwork for the lunar collection and depicts one mouse with wheat stalks on the gold coin, while the silver coins have two mice on corn stalks. As a new item for the Lunar Series III collection, the Perth Mint offers a 1 oz platinum bullion coin.

On the reverse of the 2020 Gold Australian Lunar Mouse Coin is a depiction of a single mouse. This mouse is surrounded by wheat stalks that curve with the edge of the coin. The mouse stands on its hind legs as its front paws reach up the stalk of wheat.

The obverse of 2020 1/2 oz Gold Australian Lunar Mouse Coins come with the latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This design began to appear on Perth Mint coins in 2019, but did not appear on the Lunar Series II coins to ensure all 12 releases in the previous series had the same obverse. Created by Jody Clark, this effigy depicts the Queen in right-profile relief in the sixth image of Her Majesty to appear on Australian coinage.

These 2020 1/2 oz Gold Australian Lunar Mouse Coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are available individually inside of acrylic capsules or in rolls of 20 coins. The unlimited mintage of 1/2 oz gold coins indicates the Perth Mint will strike the coins through the end of 2020.
