The Armenian Noah’s Ark Series is a popular collection for the Republic of Armenia that was introduced in 2011. Originally available only as a silver bullion coin, the German mint introduced a gold bullion version of the coin for the first time ever in 2020. The new gold bullion coins feature the same design elements found on the silver coins for nearly a decade. Right now, 2020 1 Gram Gold Armenian Noah’s Ark Coins are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

The new 2020 Gold Armenian Noah’s Ark Series debuts with four weights available. These 1 Gram gold coins are the smallest in the series and have the highest mintage figure. The other options in the new series include 1/4 oz gold, 1/2 oz gold, and 1 oz gold, each with a mintage figure that drops as the weight of the coin increases.
On the obverse side of 2020 1 Gram Gold Noah’s Ark Coins is the coat of arms for the Republic of Armenia. Adopted by the nation in April 1992 and codified into law by the Armenian Parliament in June 2006, the coat of arms combines historic Armenian symbolism that predates the birth of Christ and modern symbols used in the 20th century.
The reverse field of the 2020 Gold Armenian Noah’s Ark Coins includes a design from Eduard Kurghinyan. In the center of the design field is the ark constructed by Noah at the behest of God. It is shown floating on the floodwaters that washed away the sins of humanity. Noah has sent out a dove to seek dry land, and it is shown here returning to the ark with an olive branch in its beak signifying that dry land is out there somewhere. In the background, the sun rises over Mount Ararat.
