The coin that may have undergone the most change with the transition from Troy ounces to Grams in the Chinese Panda Series is the 1 Gram gold coin. Formerly the 1/20 Troy ounce coin, from 2016 onward the diminutive release in the Gold Chinese Panda Series is the 1 Gram Gold Panda. With a 10 Yuan face value and an affordable price point, the 1 Gram Gold Panda is a favorite of investors from all ranges. One of the greatest attractions of the Gold Chinese Panda is not necessarily the government-backed gold content and purity of the coins, but rather, the design approach. While the Gold Eagle, Gold Maple Leaf, Gold Krugerrand, and Gold Britannia all use the same design from one year to the nest, the Gold Panda offers a new image of the Giant Panda species on the reverse each year. Only the 2001 and 2002 coins have ever shared a design. This feature adds an air of collectible appeal to the series.
All of the 2020 1 Gram Gold Chinese Panda Coins in this product listing are unsealed, but come with an individual protective flip. All coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Though it is hard to visually differentiate the changes in the Troy oz and Gram versions of the Gold Chinese Panda, the 1 Gram coin did have the most significant adjustments.
The previous 1/20 Troy oz coin actually weighed 1.5552 Grams and had a diameter of 13.92 mm. These 1 Gram Gold Pandas have a weight of 1 Gram even, dropping .5552 grams of weight and shaving the diameter down a full 3 mm to 10 mm even from the previous mark.
On the obverse side of 2020 1 Gram Gold Chinese Pandas, you will find the depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. The building is the main structure within the Temple of Heaven Complex.
The reverse face of the 2020 1 Gram Gold Panda includes the new Giant Panda cub design. Created in 2020 by Song Lina, the image features a cuddly Giant Panda cub on its back as it plays with bamboo leaves and hopes to get a snack for its efforts.
