Gold American Eagles are produced by the United States Mint in the bullion investment-grade version with four weights. Introduced in 1986, the series is the only one from the US Mint that offers more than a 1 oz coin. Gold American Eagles come with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold for sale. Each of these weights is available in certified version as well that have been graded by the PCGS or NGC. Today, 2020 1 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you online at Silver.com with near-perfect grades.

Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you with a PCGS protective plastic slab!
  • 35th coin released in the Gold American Eagle 1 oz series!
  • Availability of certified coins is limited!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of actual gold content.
  • The face value of $50 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • Graded Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • On the obverse is a depiction of Lady Liberty.
  • The reverse side bears the family of American bald eagles.

While gold bullion versions of the Gold American Eagle are the most popular in the series by mintage figures, the coins are available in two different versions. The proof coin also debuted in 1986 with a 1 oz coin, followed by a 1/2 oz coin in 1987 as well as 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins in 1988. The burnished version features only 1 oz gold. Certified bullion coins offer another option in that range for investors.

All of these 2020 1 oz Gold American Eagles are near-perfect specimens with a Mint State 69 grade. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Examples of acceptable flaws at this certification level include minuscule contact marks or hairlines.

On the obverse of 2020 Gold American Eagles, you will find a modified version of the 1907 Lady Liberty design. Created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, it was intended for a high-relief strike and initially included 46 stars around her figure. This version of the design includes a circle of 50 stars around Liberty to represent all the current states in the Union with the other original design elements of Liberty’s torch, olive branch, and the US Capitol Building.

The reverse side of 2020 1 oz Gold Eagles bears the image of American bald eagles. The design was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek and depicts a family of American bald eagles in the nest. As a male flies overhead, a young hatchling seeks shelter under the wing of a female eagle.
