This same year included 1/2 oz gold coins with a mintage of 193,000 specimens and 1/4 oz gold coins with a mintage of 313,000 specimens. Since then, only the 1991 release has seen a coin surpass 100,000 in a given year and since 2002, the highest mintage in the 1 oz weight was recorded at 15,000 coins in that year (2002).

First Strike specimens are coins the PCGS receives for certification within 30 days of release from the mint.
On the obverse of 2020 Gold Mexican Libertads is an image of Winged Victory. A personification of Mexico that emerged during the revolution to free the country from Spanish imperial control, the image of Winged Victory debuted on Mexican coinage in 1921 with the release of the 50 Peso Centenario. Her effigy shown here comes in three-quarter profile relief with a laurel wreath in her right hand and broken chains in her left hand.
The reverse side of the 2020 1 oz Gold Libertads comes with 11 versions of the Mexican coat of arms. The largest of these is at the center of the design field and reflects the modern version of the national seal. This element has a powerful golden eagle on the perch of a prickly pear cactus as it does battle with a serpent. Similar versions feature in a ring around this design, with 10 in total that date back as far as the 1524 Codex Mendoza design.
