Silver.com offers the 2020 Silver ATB Weir Farm National Historic Site Coin to you in proof-like condition, with the kind of mirror-like finish that’s typically found in the earliest strikes of an issue. We ship it in its own individualized protective plastic slab. With its satiny luster and gorgeous design, it makes an ideal choice for collectors, investors, and gifts for special occasions. The MS69 grade is for coins with full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detractions. Examples of these flaws include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that are located outside the primary focal points.
The coin celebrates the historical buildings and landscape of the Weir Farm National Historic Site, a part of America’s painting legacy originally founded by the Impressionist painter Julian Alden Weir. Over five dozen acres of perfectly preserved buildings, gardens, orchards, and idyllic painting sites now maintain this legacy of artistic inspiration for the American public, who can even take art classes at the very spots where multiple generations of American masters created their most famous paintings.
The reverse side carries a finely-detailed image of a painter in a smock, working outside the same historic studio originally used by Julian Alden Weir himself. Sculpted by award-winning medallic artist Phebe Hemphill, the image is accompanied by the inscriptions “A NATIONAL PARK FOR ART,” “WEIR FARM,” “CONNECTICUT,” “2020” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
The obverse side carries the same portrait of George Washington that can be found on the standard American circulation quarter, first designed in 1932 to commemorate the first President’s 200th birthday. It’s surrounded by the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”
