This is the fourth-generation depiction of the Queen during her long reign and was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. Ms. Blunt is just the second Canadian artist to ever design a monarch portrait and it is the first since the reign of King George VI to depict the ruler without a crown.
The reverse of 2020 Silver Canadian Maples Leafs features the iconic sugar maple leaf design. Developed in 1979 by Walter Ott for the Royal Canadian Mint, it debuted on the Gold Maple Leaf first and is now used on the Silver Maple Leaf, Platinum Maple Leaf, and Palladium Maple Leaf coins.
Silver Canadian Maple Leafs are produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. The mint has facilities at Ottawa and Winnipeg. The Ottawa Mint is the original facility and the one responsible for the production of all bullion and numismatic coins such as the Silver Maple Leafs.
