In 2017, the Gold Barbados Trident debuted at the Scottsdale Mint. The coins are struck each year with the same design elements on the obverse and reverse fields. The symbols chosen to represent the nation in this series include the national coat of arms on the obverse side and a trident head, just as shown on the national flag, on the reverse. The mint does change the background visual effect on the reverse field. This has alternated at times between a hammered effect and various styles of wavy lines.
All of the 2021 1/5 oz Gold Barbados Trident Coins available in this Silver.com listing come with protective capsules. The coins in the 1/5 oz weight are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
On the obverse side of 2021 Gold Barbados Trident Coins is an image of the national coat of arms for Barbados. The country’s seal was adopted in 1966 ahead of its independence from the United Kingdom. The design features a spade shield at the center with a bearded Fig Tree in the middle and two Red Pride of Barbados flowers in the upper corners of the shield. The shield is topped by a helmet and comes with heraldic animals flanking the shield. These animals include the dolphin and pelican.
The reverse face of the 2021 1/5 oz Gold Trident Coin depicts a trident head. The trident head shown on this side is the same as the one that features on the national flag. This trident head is broken off the staff as a sign of Barbadian independence from the United Kingdom. This side includes the new background effect. The new visual effect features radiating waves that change directions with each subsequent ring as it expands from the center to the outer edge.
