Please be aware that the black tape on the 2021 Silver Eagle Type 2 tubes is a recent addition from the US Mint. This tape has proven to break easily as a result of minor vibrations or movement. It is possible that the tube you receive may come with black tape that has come loose or has broken. Silver.com is taking the additional step of applying our own tape to each tube to ensure it remains safe during transit.

Since 1986, there has been little change to the coveted Silver American Eagles from the United States Mint. In fact, no major changes have occurred at all in the Silver Eagle Series. The only adjustment to ever come to the design elements or appearance of the coins came in 2016 when edge lettering was used on the Proof Silver Eagle as part of the 30th anniversary of the series.
The release of a new reverse design in the 2021 Silver Eagle Series not only marks the first-ever change to the imagery in the collection, but it also marks a first-ever dual release for the US Mint. As new dies were not ready for the initial coining of 2021-dated coins in late 2020, the US Mint launched the 2021 date mark with the original design combinations in place and continued issuing the Walking Liberty-Heraldic Eagle combination on coins through mid-2021. As such, the 2021 coins have become known as Type 1 and Type 2 releases.
Walking Liberty is found on the obverse side of 2021 Silver American Eagles in this Tube of 20 Type 2 coins. This design from Adolph A. Weinman first graced the US half dollar from 1916 to 1947, and has been the face of the obverse field in this series since its 1986 launch. The US Mint has enhanced Walking Liberty to capture her effigy as Weinman originally intended. Also included is the artistic signature of Weinman consisting of his “AW” initials below the inscription “In God We Trust.”
An American bald eagle is shown descending into the design field on the reverse side of 2021 Silver American Eagle Type 2s in this Tube of 20 coins. This design from Emily Damstra shows the eagle with its wings swept back behind its figure as its talons clutch an oak branch, the national tree of the United States and a symbol of strength.
These 2021 1 oz Silver American Eagle Type 2 Tubes are available to purchase with a total of 20 individual coins inside. The plastic tube holds 20 separate 2021-dated Type 2 Silver Eagles, each one with One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
