The Germania & Austria release is the fourth in The Allegories Series. Germania has previously been captured in three different designs alongside other female allegories. These powerful figures include, in order, Britannia, Columbia, and Italia. The Austria release brings together two cultures with very deep historical ties.

It wasn’t until the 19th century that Austria and Germany were actually ruled as different regions. Throughout the Middle Ages and the Early-modern period, Germany and Austria were controlled by the Holy Roman Empire. To this day, people from the two countries maintain very close cultural ties. In fact, many Austrians still speak Austrian-German.

The obverse side of 2021 Silver Germania The Allegories Austria & Germania Rounds features the two female allegories seated side-by-side. On the left, you will notice Lady Austria seated with her left hand extended to the knee of Germania as she wears a laurel wreath and clutches a spear. On the right, Germania wears an oak wreath with her right hand extended to meet the left hand of Austria. Her left hand rests on the German imperial sword.

On the reverse field of 1 oz Silver Germania The Allegories Austria & Germania Rounds is a depiction of the coat of arms developed for the Germania Mint. This seal includes a quartered shield that features a double-headed eagle, checkered field, a banner of three roses, and a wild boar in the quadrants. The shield is topped by an imperial crown and flanked by an oak wreath.
