Some of the most popular silver bullion coins available today are those from lunar-themed collections. Sovereign mints issue bullion coins in these types of collections in a 12-year cycle, one for each animal in the Zodiac. If and when a mint restarts its series, the same animals reappear in order, but with fresh, new designs to captivate a new set of collectors. Now, 2021 1 oz Silver Royal Australian Mint Year of the Ox Coins are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside acrylic capsules or rolls of 10!
  • Second release in the latest Royal Australian Mint Lunar Series!
  • Mintage limited to 50,000 coins only!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Issued a face value of $1 (AUD) by Australia.
  • The obverse shows Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse is a depiction of a bull ox.

In Chinese culture and society, as well as many other agrarian societies through the ages, the ox was revered for its ability to work tirelessly in the fields. Considered an honest and earnest animal, the ox was an easy animal to work with as it took easily to human control and could move heavy plows with less effort than teams of horses.

Oxen are, by association, connected to qualities such as honesty and a low temper. Those born under the sign of the ox every 12 years are said to be hardworking and humble, always getting the job done without seeking out excess praise for doing so.

The obverse of 2021 1 oz Silver Royal Australian Mint Year of the Ox Coins features the right-profile effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This sixth-generation design from the Royal Mint of Australia is based on Jody Clark’s 2015 design for the Royal Mint of England. The effigy shows the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem. In a unique RAM design, there is a wheel of animals around the rim of the design field that showcases all 12 animals from the Zodiac. As 2021 is the Year of the Ox, the ox is rotated to be at the top position directly above the Queen.

On the reverse face of 2021 Silver Royal Australian Mint Year of the Ox Coins is a depiction of the male ox. In this design, the male ox is shown with its long horns as it lowers its head. There are willow branches draped down the side of the design element, along with the symbol for the ox.
