Polar bears are a related species to the brown bear, but over the course of time, the polar bear evolved to occupy a much narrower niche in the world. While brown bears remain spread across wide swaths of North America, for example, the polar bear is found almost exclusively within the Arctic Circle and its landmasses and waterways, including the Arctic Ocean and smaller seas.
In order to cope with the drastic and unique conditions of this region, the polar bear evolved different physical features to help cope with the snow, frigid temperatures, and need to move through the water to hunt. Polar bears have longer skulls and noses than brown bears, a more elongated body, stocky legs, and much wider feet.
The obverse of the 2021 2 oz Silver Solomon Islands Ocean Predators Series Polar Bear Shaped Coin comes with an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Developed by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998, this right-profile bust of the Queen comes with a design of the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. The background field includes a navigational map covering the South Pacific. The bump-out space on the coin includes the unique serial number assigned to each specimen.
On the reverse side of 2021 Silver Solomon Islands Polar Bear Shaped Coins is an image of the polar bear in the Arctic Circle. Though polar bears are born on solid land, most adult bears spend their lives moving through the frigid waters of the Arctic Ocean, moving from one landmass to the next in search of food. The polar bear is an adept hunter on both land and sea.
These 2021 2 oz Silver Solomon Islands Ocean Predators Series Polar Bear Shaped Coins are available to you for purchase online with a custom capsule to house the shaped coins and a presentation box with full-color graphics depicting the polar bear in its natural element. There is a Certificate of Authenticity available with purchase as well.
