The Silver Libertad Coin is one of the more popular silver coin collections in the world. Available from the Mexican Mint as of 1982, the Silver Mexican Libertad is like its North American counterparts in that it uses the same design elements on the obverse and reverse fields each year. Unlike those coins, the Silver Libertad does have a few notable differences. Today, 2021 5 oz Silver Mexican Libertads are available to you online at Silver.com.
- Available to ship to you in an individual plastic flip!
- 26th release of 5 oz Silver Mexican Libertads!
- Consists of Five Troy ounces of .999 fine silver in BU condition.
- The obverse field captures the Mexican coat of arms.
- On the reverse side is an image of Winged Victory.
Like the Silver Eagle and Silver Maple Leaf from the other major, sovereign mints of North America, the Silver Libertad from the Mexican Mint uses the same designs each year, that of the national coat of arms and Winged Victory. However, unlike the Silver Eagle and Silver Maple Leaf, the Silver Libertad has no assigned face value. The Mexican Mint considers the coins legal tender, but uses a floating face value for each coin based on its weight and the daily spot price of silver.
All of these 2021 5 oz Silver Mexican Libertads are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are packaged individually inside of plastic flips.
The obverse field of the 2021 Silver Mexican Libertad comes with a depiction of 11 different versions of the Mexican coat of arms. The modern version of the national seal is depicted as the larger, central design element on the obverse. Around the rim of the obverse design field, you will find a circle of 10 historic versions of the Mexican coat of arms.
On the reverse side of 2021 5 oz Silver Mexican Libertads is a depiction of Winged Victory. Based upon the Greek goddess Nike, Victory is shown with wings and holds a wreath crown in her hand. Her other hand clutches broken chains, a symbol of Mexico’s ability to free itself from the colonial grip of Spain in the early 19th century.
Founded in 1535 by Spanish conquistadors, the Mexican Mint is the oldest operating mint in the Western Hemisphere and once produced currency for Spanish colonies throughout Central America, South America, and the Pacific. Today, it is the sovereign mint of Mexico.
