When the Chinese Mint introduced the Gold Panda Series in 1982 it offered the coins in weights of 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold. The following year, the 1/20 oz gold coin was introduced in the series. From 1982 to 2000, the coins had lower face values than today, with the values set at 100 Yuan, 50 Yuan, 25 Yuan, 10 Yuan, and 5 Yuan, respectively. In 2001, those values were increased to the current figures of 500 Yuan, 200 Yuan, 100 Yuan, 50 Yuan, and 20 Yuan.

In 2016, the Chinese Mint made an even bigger adjustment to the series by switching from Troy ounces to Grams as the official measure of the weight for the coins. This resulted in changes from 1, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10, and 1/20 oz to 30, 15, 8, 3, and 1 Gram gold. The long-running 1/4 oz gold coin became these 8 Gram gold coins.

The Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests remains on the obverse of the 2021 8 Gram Gold Chinese Panda. Featured on this face of the coins dating back to 1982, it has been the stable design element of the series throughout its history as the reverse designs of the Giant Panda change each year.

For the reverse design of the 2021 8 Gram Gold Chinese Panda, the Chinese Mint offers an all-new image with an adult panda and its young cub. As the young cub climbs the trunk of a tree, the adult stands on its hind legs and reaches toward the back of the cub with one of its front paws, almost as if it wants to offer physical and moral support to its adventurous offspring.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase.
