The Philadelphia Mint was one of two mints to issue the original Silver Morgan Dollars in every year of availability. The only other mint to do so was the San Francisco Mint. In 2021, the Philadelphia Mint issued commemorative 2021 Silver Morgan Dollars to celebrate its own role and did so with no mint mark present on the coins.
All of these 2021 Silver Morgan Dollars come with plastic slabs and a perfect certification from the NGC. A Mint State 70 coin is one that has full, original mint luster and presents with no detracting flaws of any kind on the design elements and fields of the coin. The First Day of Issue label is for coins received for certification within 24 hours of release from the US Mint.
On the obverse of these 2021 Silver Morgan Dollar Coins is the original left-profile portrait of Liberty from George T. Morgan. This design was created in 1878 with Anna Willess Williams sitting as the model for Morgan’s design. The portrait shows Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap with the laurel wreath and coronet crowns.
The reverse face of 2021 Silver Morgan Dollars comes with an image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. Originally designed in 1794 by Robert Scott, this version of the eagle shows the bird with its wings spread to the sides as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.
In addition to these Philadelphia Mint coins with no mint mark, Philadelphia also issued 2021 Silver Morgan Dollars with commemorative O and CC privy marks to honor the defunct New Orleans and Carson City Mints.
